Rayne started to study music at the age of 8 playing the clarinet and at 17 began to study piano. At 18 he started undergraduate studies at Federal University of Uberlândia (Minas Gerais, Brazil). After he graduated, he began to work as a teacher at the Uberlândia’s Conservatory of music teaching piano lessons and middle school band.

Rayne has a great experience playing several styles of Brazilian music such as Bossa Nova, Samba, Baião, and others, as he does with jazz and had the opportunity to play and record with many groups in his home town. Before coming to the U.S. He had the privilege to perform with Marcio Bahia, J. J. Jackson (Brazil), Bruno Mangueira, Daniel D'Alcantara, and many others.

In January of 2017 he moved to Iowa City to pursue his Master's degree in jazz studies at The University of Iowa and graduated in May of 2019. During his MA in Jazz, he performed with his bands: "BrazIowa jazz Quartet" and "Mina Jazz Quartet", dedicated to performing Brazilian music beyond the scope of Bossa Nova. He also had the honor to perform with the Latin Jazz Ensemble of the University of Iowa, Johnson County Landmark, Brian Lynch, Rufus Reid, Francisco Mora Catlett, Vincent DiMartino, Clay Jenkins, Kim Richmond, Ed East Latin Jazz Quartet, Orquestra Alto Maiz and Chris Merz. His studies in jazz at the University of Iowa were conducted by John Rapson, Dr. Damani Phillips, Jim Dreier and Steve Grismore. As one of the Teaching Assistants of the jazz area, he taught the Jazz History course and performed in the Latin Jazz Ensemble.

In August of 2019 started a second Masters degree in music education at the University of Iowa and he is currently one of the Teaching Assistants for the class called "Music methods and materials for the elementary teacher". He was also the director/conductor of the Silver Swing Band, one of the many groups of the Iowa City - IA, New Horizons Band until 2022

In 2022 he moved to London - Canada to pursue his PhD in music education and performs with local musicians.
